Girls Rugby
The under 12 girls went to Penrith yesterday. Great weather, great games. The girls have all improved over the last month. Skye scored multiple tries, Jess made some great runs up the wing, Jessie made some great tackles, Becca made lots of great support runs and to cap it all Charlotte came away with player of the games. well done girls

Under 15s

On a bright sunny morning Cockermouth hosted teams from Penrith and touring Percy Park.
They started with a game against a well drilled Penrith team. Penrith got on the front foot with an offloading game and pacey attack at the edges. Cockermouth had dangerous spells when they kept the ball alive and supported each other. Strong running and good passing into space outwide led to Nathan’s first try for the club. Penrith finish strongly to end up as the victors. Penrith and Percy park then had a tight physical game which got a little bit feisty at one point. Percy Park edging the victory.
Cockermouth finished against a strong Percy park team who were adept at stripping the ball in contact and passing the ball before contact to rapid attacking players outwide. Cockermouth worked hard but retention of possession and penalties for tackle height stifled their attack. Percy park ended up convincing victors.
Cockermouth’s player of the matches was Harley Moore.

Harley worked hard today in both games it was epitomised by him chasing back along the touchline at the end of the second game to tackle a Percy park player on a break. The most pleasing play was when Harley received the ball outwide with an overlap.
Many times in the past he would have run straight and hard at the defence.
But today he passed the ball outwide creating a try for Nathan. Good work Harley.
Honorable mentions today for Keenan and his block busting runs and tackles, the work of Jude, Freddie, Cam and Luke in defence, and Nathan getting his first try for the club.

I agree great to see the lads playing the game watching the games on a Sunday morning with the young players and the colts playing mostly on Sundays it’s always a pleasure to watch the games keep it going every one ??????????????? Committee Member T Rickerby

Cockermouth Wasps Colts - back to winning ways

Sunday saw the Colts on the road again to the NE for a return fixture with Hartlepool RFC. The home fixture had been played in torrential rain and wind but this time the sun was out on a fine spring day. This brought out the best in the Wasps as they overwhelmed Hartlepool with an all round display of attacking rugby, good handling and some great team support work.

From the whistle Cockermouths forwards dominated all aspects and quick and plentiful ball saw a flurry of tries in the first half with touch downs for the returning Joe Blacklock, Ollie Denvir, Leuan Jennings, Danny Herbert and Alex Woodhall.

Line out and breakdown dominance continued in the second half with further tries from Nate Lynch, Rhomen Allick, the "Tynemet twins" Finley & Wickus and MoM Matthew Nelson.

Cockermouths younger contingent including Alfie Wright and Sam Tyson all turned in excellent performances.

Great credit must go to Hartlepool who tackled with spirit all day and counter rucked a number of times to win ball off the dominant Cockermouth pack.

The final whistle saw a ten try victory for the Wasps. The hospitality during the day for players, coaches and supporters was first class from Hartlepool. Match Report M Denvir
