What an action packed weekend across the club.

Just a personal thank you from me to everyone who has helped out over the last 2 days. Been great for the club and the feedback was fab. The sponsors thanked us for looking after them, said it was a fantastic day, loved it. Consett loved the club and thank us all for the hospitality. Think our lads enjoyed themselves also, just don't think they will make x factor yet ?
Today the kids teams had a great time and loads of their coaches and parents came and thanked everyone for a great day. Proud of the club, great weekend ???thank you
Julie (Vice President)

U7s

U7s at Creighton and the u8s at workington today. It was great to see our u7s coming off the pitch with big smiles on their faces. See picture - Lincoln and Arlo two happy boys coming off the pitch

U8s
Just finished with the u8s festival at zebras both Carl and myself were very impressed with the performance from mini wasps ?????????really enjoyed our morning ? “Terry Rickerby”

U9s

Well done to coach Ian Hope leading on an excellent festival at our club. Well done to the Wasp players and thank you to all our visiting teams for making it an excellent morning of rugby.

U14s

The u14s hosted Chester and Carlisle today in what was an excellent advertisement for Rugby. The young wasps played Carlisle in the 1st match and didn't disappoint. Playing some fantastic off loading rugby at pace, blitzing through the defensive line to score some fantastic tries. Wasps winning 19-0
Carlisle played Chester next in a very close battle which seen Chester win in the dying seconds 7-5.
The final game was Cockermouth vs Chester. Another grear battle which was tight all the way. Cockermouth doing really well at the breakdown something we've been working hard on to be faster and more physical ??
By doing this we created the opportunities to let our speedy backline do its work. Final score 12-0. To Nil both travelling team was excellent and shows just how far this team has developed this season. Myself and Dickie couldn't be prouder of how this team playing at thr minute, winning their last 5 games.
Special thank you to Kathryn and all the kitchen helpers feeding over 100 travelling players and supporters. Also the bar staff and Reedy for being there and helping on the day. We really showed what a fantastic club this is today ???

1st team
Cockermouth 0 - 19 Consett

Another 80mins of grit and determination from the home side but unfortunately not enough in attack to get near the win.

Consett were a solid team with good ball provided by their pack and a lot of pace from their 9, 13 and 15 always making the home side work.

Will Tyson, Glenn Foggin, Olly Gray and James Roberts worked really hard all afternoon to ensure we competed at the scrum and win some ball. Will Tyson had his first game in charge of the lineout and did well. In the backs Ed Gate looked lively in hand and off the boot, with Ben Irving and Johnny Crighton able to put the away team under pressure with some quality live breaks. However as with all the teams this year their defensive re group was very good and Wasps either lost possession with frustration, lack of cohesion or panicked plays and didn’t threat the Consett line. In fact Wasps probably played their best rugby attacking out of their own red zone.

Final word to Ryan Hetherington and Ant Davies who have been consistently excellent this season and it would be captain Ant who took the man of the match award.

Massive thanks to our sponsor Mike Burns who brought up a good group to support the game and stay on in the club for singer Harry Bibby.

We look forward to next Sunday when it’s the turn of the U15s to make it a busy day.

Next Sunday (24th) u15s are hosting Percy park (touring), Kirkby Lonsdale and Penrith. The plan is to use two pitches, with teams playing three twenty minute games. KO at 11.30am.
