In any sport, volunteers are fundamental. We would simply not be able to function as a club without them. It really is a huge credit to the all our volunteers who not only put themselves forward, but become engrossed in our club and work together to achieve things which
would be impossible without their support.

Congratulations to Kathryn & Stephen Reed who were awarded the Cockermouth Rufc volunteer of the year award for 2022. The club is blessed with many individual brilliant volunteers who operate the club across many activities and programmes so this year it took a joint effort to win the award.

Together the Reeds cover ground maintenance, coaching, first aid, team management, other coach support and keep the kitchen functioning for youth rugby. Crucially they have also relaunched colts rugby and are actively working with the RFU to ensure youth/senior transition is strong at the Wasps.

It was with great pleasure that Chairman Jeff Peet was able to award this last night on behalf of the management committee and also took the time to thank everyone who makes the Wasps a great club.

We wish all our volunteers are brilliant festive break and we look forward to going strong again in 2023.
