The Cockermouth Girls Rugby team kicked off their season with an energetic and uplifting training session on Sunday 7th. It was fantastic to see the girls back on the pitch, full of enthusiasm and ready to dive into the new season. The session had an extra buzz as we welcomed several new players into the squad, adding fresh energy and excitement to the group. The returning players quickly settled back into rhythm, showing great camaraderie and setting a positive tone for the weeks ahead.

The focus of the session was on handling and supporting the ball carrier during attacking phases. Through a series of dynamic drills and small-sided games, the girls worked on improving their passing accuracy, communication, and decision-making under pressure. Coaches emphasized the importance of staying connected and offering support lines, helping players understand how to create and exploit space as a team. The progress made in just one session was impressive, and it’s clear the squad is building a strong foundation for a confident and cohesive season ahead.
