Not the start off field but a brilliant start on field.

Unfortunately the club has suffered severe water pipe damage in the roof space over the cold December period.

“Not good news ! The pipes in the roof space have been basically burst apart in all areas . The plumbers have repaired some but need specialised joints etc which have to be ordered . So no water in the club at present. The plumber is hoping the parts will arrive mid week and are going to do their very best. I will update when l know more, in the meantime please let me know if you’re aware of any funding steams we could access for this untimely cost to the club”. President Steve Stainton.

Fortunately on field is much better

Thanks to Broughton Red Rose who kindly offered us their training facilities our juniors were able to get back training.

The U15 ospreys travelled to Carlisle and played some fantastic rugby, showing a lot of the work done by their coaches is now learnt and able to be applied under pressure.
“The Positives today were strong forward running - couple of very good tries off strong positive running and well timed passes. Olly Green at stand off had his best game tactical kicking wise, pinning them back and creating try scoring opportunities were particularly good.
As we approach some difficult games will be working on our support runners and depth in attack. This Sunday will be a test as we travel to Kendal. “ Coach Richard Black

Colts Rugby - Friday night under floodlights
KESWICK COLTS 12 V 5 COCKERMOUTH COLTS. Muddy fun with an excellent and hard fought game at Davidson Park. Cockermouth had the edge in the first half and went a try up Finley Reed. Two second half Keswick tries from Isaac Beechey and Harry Cottage down each wing, and superb conversion from Ben Clark for the win. Photos by Ben Challis.

Representative Rugby update by Stephen Reed
Well done to Finley Reed our U17s Wasps colts player, representing Cumbria U18s on Sunday.
Cumbria travelled down to Lymm to play Durham, Finley got off to a great start opening the sores with a try from half way.
It was a good end to end game with Durham managing to push on in the final minutes of the game to win 44 – 29.
Also well done to Ciaran Scott who also played a few weeks ago for Cumbria U18s.

Congrats to Dan Woodcock who after playing some first team senior rugby with the Wasps secured his starting position with Falcons academy. Dan starred at stand off with a brilliant win over Leicester Academy. Keep it up Dan.

It’s fantastic to see our young talent representing Cumbria and our fantastic club.

Senior rugby.
Well done to the 1st team who didn’t let the long break effect them to much and opened up 2023 with a convincing win against Workington Zebras. This takes them to 2nd in the league but still with a hard task to peg back league leaders Upper Eden who have a 10 point advantage. One thing for sure is they will kept battling to the end. It has been confirmed they will now play in a split league with the top half finishing clubs, Upper Eden, Cockermouth, Egremont, Wigton, Whitehaven and Millom. Cockermouth 2nds should get back to business this week v Carlisle.
