Colts put in eye catching performance.

Well done Cockermouth Rufc u7/u8 who had a game with Egremont Rufc to day. Both teams showed great running and ball handling skills. Coach Clopper

U12/13s v Keswick U13s

This was a very rough test for the Wasps side, who field half their team from the age group below. It would be the big powerful Keswick forwards who dominated the game. To our lads credit and as we expect they didn’t give up, played well with the ball and will learn a lot from the game. We are now so close to being able to field u12s and U13s which is a brilliant progress. Our u12s go to their own age group festival next week and this will have done them great preparation. Coach Burke.

The lads worked really hard on Sunday to complete the below as quick as possible. Well done to Nath with the quickest time and also Cole who managed it under 3mins

The lads had a great suggestion for adding that test into pre season for next year to see how the lads are progressing. Well done all it was a great session and pleased we could offer you something slightly different.

Cockermouth Junior Colts 31 - Horden & Peterlee 18

Cockermouth Junior Colts had the performance of the weekend on their travels to the North East. Horden & Peterlee went into the game unbeaten but a brilliant performance gave the Wasps the win.
Unfortunately the tackle area was very inconsistently refereed which did lead to a number of penalties going against the away team but the lads reacted to this brilliantly, playing with composure and taking the points as the opportunity’s arised.

“So proud of this team, come on and up the Wasps” A happy parent.

Cockermouth 1sts 48- Millom 0

Try scorers included Adam Brough. Jonathon Astley, Dan Fielden x 2, Ian McDowell with Ed Gate the goal.

“A very good win on Saturday by the firsts, and, despite the score , very physical, bordering on brutal at times, and, to their credit, Millom never gave up.” Match Ball Sponsor - Bobby Huck.

Veterans Rugby - Dale Pope, Steven Brough, Craig Muller and Chris Wright represent the Wasps.
Before Xmas a group of ex players went from Keswick & Cockermouth to play a
Wigton & Aspatria team. In what was a great game and new friendships made, Richard Marrs from Wigton formed the Cumbrian Barbarian Vets. The group of players which is growing all the time played it’s first fixture on Saturday v Ambleside. The Ambleside was a young team mainly made up of students, so was certainly a test for the older legs. However Cumbrian Barbarians soon rolled back the years and got on the front foot, overloaded at will and attacked from everywhere. The game was played in great spirit and try scorers included David Ray from Keswick, Craig Muller & Chris Wright from Cockermouth and Heine Jonker from Aspatria. The next game is due to be an open game for any veterans fancying a try of the game, 18th March as a curtain raiser to Cockermouth v Wigton, 1pm kick off. If interested chat to Richard Marrs at Wigton, David Raye at Keswick or Chris Wright at Cockermouth.
