A fine weekend for the Wasps with determination and passion for the club at the forefront.

Under 7/8s
All smiles today home game against Whitehaven RUFC. Really good to see. Some good hands great running and brilliant trys from both clubs. Coach Clopper.

Ospreys U15s
Haven’t posted a match report in a while, but I think today needs to be acknowledged.

A bare 15 against a large, confident Furness squad of 22 looked to be a challenge too far for our lads. It didn’t turn out that way.

We matched them physically and overmatched them in technical ability resulting in a 21-7 victory. The score doesn’t tell the tale well enough though.

I think it’s fair to say that lads with a lower rugby age and those lads of smaller stature we’ve looked to protect came of age today, and then some! The lads stood up for each other, ran their socks off for each other, and ultimately found an extra bit of gas supporting each other breaking the line or scrambling to defend.

The coaches asked for 2 things today, work for each other and play smart. We got that and more… On to the next one! Coach R Black

Colts Rugby

Our colts had a good result against West Hartlepool this Sunday 24 - 7 win.

West Hartlepool are sitting just above us in the league.

Both sides were very physical, some times spilling over in to poor discipline with a number of scuffles.

That said we absorbed lots of West Hartlepool attack and started to manage the game in key areas.

Not a fluid game for our lad's, we overplayed and forced the ball.
This was clear when we gifted them with an intercepted try!

West Hartlepool put some tenacious defence in, but our lad's ground it out to come away with a hard fought win.

Well done lad's. Coach S Reed

Senior Rugby

The first team managed a very good home bonus win v 3rd place Egremont who made them work very hard until the final whistle.

It would be the Cockermouth pack who got on top in terms of the set piece and ball carry’s and score 3 of the 4 tries. Ed Gate wouldn’t be out done and got the scoring underway with a fine individual try in the club house side corner.

This would soon be followed by a fine try by Adam Brough, with the Wasps finding quick ball and great field position, Adam did what he does best and crashed over under the posts.

Egremont were able to stay in the game with the home side consistently giving away penalties and 2 of these were kicked to get 6 points on the scoreboard.

Great defence as expected from the Wasps in the second half prevented further score from Egremont and the experienced hard working Ryan Hetherington used his muscle and classy footwork to score next. Captain James Hunter finished of the scoring.. As you can see from his try scoring picture, Jimmy leads this passion and determination for the Wasps which is repeated at all age groups.

Another good weekend for the Wasps and thank you to all sponsors, players, referees, parents, coaches and spectators for your continued support.
