What a win

Result of the season
Wasps 1st team record one of their best results to date with still more to come.

Cockermouth Wasps 10 - Upper Eden 5

It what was always going to be a hard fought, close game, the lads came away with a brilliant win thanks to superb defence and taking the points available. Very fittingly for our hard working pack the try was scored from a scrum with Will Gate scoring the push over try from 8, Converted by Dan Woodcock who also kicked a very important penalty. Cockermouth should have added at least one other try from another dominant scrum but No 8 W Gate was unable to ground the ball.

Thanks to Upper Eden for a great game, Martin for refereeing, our tremendous sponsors and supporters and match day volunteers.

“Really hard fought win and the good thing is I can see much more to come in their performances” Head Coach Jeff Clare.

“Today the 1st team beat Upper Eden 10-5 . They haven’t been beaten for nearly 3 years. Super proud that 85 percent of that team today have come through our junior pathway , get on! “ Club President Steve Stainton.

“ From me boys thank you, everyone involved from bar staff to bag man to players have all had a apart in that win! One club one family ??? “. 1st Team Captain and Man of the Match James Hunter.

Upper Eden - All good things must come to an end…

A disappointing result yesterday for the 1XV as the final whistle blew. 80 mins of hard graft from the lads but it just wasn’t enough to remain unbeaten.

Final score: 10-5

Try scorer: Will Birkbeck

Congratulations to Cockermouth on the win, you put in a great game and we look forward to welcoming you back to Pennine Park.
